Less than three weeks ago, I realized that I had less than 3 weeks to take a use a week of vacation before I lost it. I asked work to see if they’d let me take vacation May 12th through May 16th. They usually want a month advance but they knew that my renewal date was close and that I’d lose it. They approved it and then I had to figure out what I was going to do for that week.
I figured I’d drive to Salt Lake City during my vacation to visit some friends I haven’t seen in a year and a half. On Friday, May 9th, I called my good friend Shaun to see what he was doing during the week I took vacation and he convinced me to go to Salt Lake City that night. I wasn’t planning on leaving until the next morning, but I’d get a whole extra day to hang out with them before they had to go back to work.
It seemed like a really long drive. The one thing that was nice is that I’d drive for 20 minutes without seeing a single car or semi. The downside is that it was so boring, I started to doze off on the last 90 miles of the trip. I pulled over and took a short nap. I finally arrived at Shaun’s house at 8:30 in the morning on Saturday. I took a 2hr nap on his couch and then we just hung out the rest of the day! Next time, I’ll be sure to sleep better the night before I decide to drive all night.
